Year 2 visit Paul Smith’s headquarters and shops.

We have had an amazing final week of our topic on Famous Faces.
Firstly, on Tuesday, Mr Akins came to school to talk about all the bands and singers he has met and worked with through the venues he owns and concerts he organises. We got to see a fantastic video showing how ‘Splendour’ (the annual festival at Wollaton Park run by Mr Akins) is organised and set up and then he brought some great posters for us to see,
Then, on Wednesday, Year 2 went to visit Paul Smith’s headquarters, warehouse, his first shop on Byard Lane and his flagship store, Willoughby House. Both classes (and staff) had an amazing time and I hope they knew what a privilege it was to be allowed into the design and pattern studios. We were able to see many momentos that belonged to Paul Smith himself including his Mini’s and an amazing moving model which demonstrated his process when bringing new products to customers.
A special thank you must go to Mrs Dodd, Mrs Rana and Mr Black for their time and work in organising this fabulous trip.

The circus came to school!

What an exciting morning we had. We took part in a circus skills workshop. Jay showed us some of his amazing circus tricks which were incredible. He then taught us how to spin plates, throw a diablo, juggle with scarves and balls and balance a peacock feather on our noses and chins!
2B thought it was “brilliant”.

2B celebrate World Book Day

Can you guess which characters we are?

Can you guess which characters we are?

We have had a brilliant day, filled with fantastic dressing up costumes and a workshop with the published author Pippa Pixley. The children were asked to dress up as a character from a poem or rhyming story and they certainly put a lot of thought and effort into their costumes, well done.
The workshop with Pippa Pixley, who originates from Nottingham was superb. She read us one of her beautiful pop up picture books and then we wrote a adventure storybook with a 3-d pop up castle. Thank you Pippa we had a super session with you.
