We love ‘The Giraffe, the Pelly and Me!’

Our superstar children have had a fantastic Creative Arts week! We have been using the Roald Dahl book ‘The Giraffe, the Pelly and Me’ for inspiration.

We started off the week making giraffe models and adding to these daily. They are now looking very realistic and will double up as a useful storage box at home. Children have made a pelican bird that opens his beak, monkey cakes that look real and to finish it all off have written and decorated a giraffe poem.

‘I loved scrunching up the paper to make my head of the giraffe.’   Daniel

‘It was hard icing the eyes on the monkey cake.’  Rohan

‘My favourite part was making the giraffe.’ Charlie

‘Making the Pelly was a real surprise!’  Vismay

‘I enjoyed making the monkey cakes and decorating them.’  Jonas

‘I enjoyed everything this week!’  Oskar

‘I loved painting my giraffe with brushes, corks and a sponge.’  Thomas

‘The monkey cake looks delicious!’   CJ

‘I like being with Mrs Baker as she has great ideas.’  Aarya

The week has whizzed by as we have all been so busy! Have a great half term everyone.

We love William Morris!

Did you know that William Morris was a famous Victorian artist who designed wallpaper that was inspired by the natural world? We have been studying his fantastic designs and looking at examples of his work.

Children in 2B were set the difficult task of making their own pear stencil to use to make wallpaper. This was then used with sponges to print onto coloured paper. Children had a great time and are all very proud of their achievements!
